Square Abalone & Mother of Pearl Jewellery Box — Polychrome Floral Arabesque with Diamond Border

A square jewellery box with softly rounded corners, entirely clad in hand-inlaid abalone shell, mother of pearl and wood marquetry.

The lid presents a dense floral arabesque of trailing vine scrolls and tulip forms in deep teal, forest green, amber and coral abalone against an ivory shell ground, framed by a dark wood border. A band of alternating dark wood and ivory diamond lozenges marks the seam between lid and body, the sides carrying the same arabesque in matching materials. A box suited to a dressing table or collector's shelf.
