Octagonal Mother of Pearl & Wood Inlay Jewellery Box — Velvet-Lined with Arabesque Lid

A jewellery box of exceptional refinement, formed as a wide octagonal vessel in hand-inlaid mother of pearl and exotic wood marquetry across every exterior surface. The domed lid presents a central arabesque medallion of extraordinary precision — a four-lobed floral cartouche in ivory mother of pearl outlined in dark wood, centred on a sunburst rosette, surrounded by a field of iridescent shell pieces in warm gold, champagne, and silver that shift and shimmer with every change of light. The faceted sides of the box carry the same mother of pearl and wood inlay in a dense all-over composition of rectangular shell pieces interspersed with dark wood accents and floral motifs.

The interior is lined in deep burgundy velvet — a deliberate and luxurious contrast to the luminous exterior — with a brass lift-tab set into the lid for ease of opening. The construction is solid and precise, the octagonal form maintained with the exactness that only hand-crafted marquetry at its finest can achieve.
