Mother of Pearl & Wood Serpentine Commode — Arabesque Inlay with White Marble Top

A serpentine-front commode with four drawers entirely covered in a continuous arabesque composition of mother of pearl on wood.

Sweeping foliate scrolls and floral medallions flow across each drawer front without interruption, the iridescent shell catching light in champagne, gold and green. Camel bone stringing separates each drawer and frames the pilaster columns, the arabesque continuing to the scalloped base. The white marble top provides a cool counterpoint to the warmth of the inlaid body below.
