Mother of Pearl & Resin Serving Tray — Iridescent Chevron Herringbone on Black Ground

Handcrafted

A serving tray of bold graphic character and exceptional surface iridescence, entirely clad in hand-cut mother of pearl and black resin across a rectangular form with integrated handles. The base and all four sides are covered in a continuous chevron herringbone pattern — pointed mother of pearl pieces arranged in alternating zigzag rows against a deep black resin ground, the composition running without interruption from the tray floor up the inner walls and across the exterior sides in a seamless wrap of monochrome pattern. The effect is immediate and striking: a surface that reads as graphic black and white from a distance and dissolves into shifting iridescence — silver, pearl, rose, and gold — as the light moves across the mother of pearl at close range.

The precision of the herringbone is remarkable. Each piece is cut to the same pointed form and laid at the same angle, the black resin ground maintaining a consistent width between each tile to ensure the pattern reads with absolute clarity across the entire surface. There is no central motif, no medallion, no border — only the pattern, uninterrupted and total, a single decorative decision pursued to its logical conclusion with complete confidence.

A tray of this graphic quality and material iridescence sits as naturally on a luxury coffee table as on a bar cart or a dressing surface — an object that makes the act of serving a visual statement in itself.
