Moroccan Flatweave Kilim — Crimson Horizontal Bands with Geometric Motifs, Hand-Woven Wool
A finely hand-woven Moroccan flatweave carpet of deep crimson ground, structured entirely in horizontal bands of varying width, each carrying a distinct geometric register. Cross motifs, diamond lattices, hourglass forms, and zigzag chains alternate across the field in ivory, saffron, amber, and deep indigo — the vocabulary of the Moroccan tribal weaving tradition compressed into a composition of remarkable rhythm and density. No two bands are identical; each offers a new arrangement of motifs against the crimson ground, so that the eye moves continuously from top to bottom without settling.
The weave is flat and tight, the wool smooth and fine — a flatweave of the type used traditionally as both floor covering and decorative textile. The burnt orange fringe at the head finishes the piece with characteristic tribal informality. The palette throughout is warm and saturated: deep madder red, saffron yellow, ivory white, and indigo blue, all rendered in natural wool that carries the depth of colour only traditional dyeing processes can achieve.
A versatile and highly decorative piece that translates effortlessly between traditional and contemporary interiors. Equally effective as a floor rug, a wall hanging, or a layering piece beneath a larger carpet.
