Monumental Napoléon III Porcelain Urns — Cobalt Blue & Gilt Bronze with Hand-Painted Cartouches, Matching Pair

A pair of monumental porcelain urns in a deep saturated cobalt blue ground, richly gilded in arabesques and acanthus scrolls.

Each urn presents two hand-painted scenes — a pastoral idyll of figures reclining beneath a tree on one face, a luminous architectural landscape of a stone bridge over still water on the reverse. The gilt loop handles and cast octagonal bronze plinth complete the composition with considerable formality. At over a metre tall, suited to a double-height entrance hall or grand salon, rare and complete as a pair.
