A folding chess board framed by a hand-painted border of floral medallions in crimson and gold against a cobalt blue ground.

Dense arabesques and scrolling botanical forms cover the full border with a richness closer to a palace ceiling than a game board, the chess grid inlaid in Khatam micro-mosaic alternating dark and amber squares. The reverse of each panel carries a hand-painted star medallion in matching cobalt, crimson and gold on natural polished wood.
