A rectangular jewellery box of exceptional decorative refinement, its exterior entirely covered in Khatam micro-mosaic — thousands of tiny fragments of wood, bone, and metal wire assembled into a continuous geometric star lattice in warm amber and ebony tones. The lid introduces a central hand-painted enamel medallion of considerable beauty — arabesque scrollwork and floral motifs in turquoise, crimson, and gold arranged around a mother of pearl rosette centre on a deep dark ground, framed by concentric borders of micro-mosaic and fine stringing. The interior is lined in deep burgundy velvet, its rich colour a deliberate and considered contrast to the warm amber of the exterior.
