A chess and backgammon board framed by a hand-painted lacquer border of peacocks, exotic birds and dense floral compositions.

Peonies, chrysanthemums and trailing leaves are rendered in cobalt blue, coral, yellow, sage green and ivory with the precision of a master miniaturist, the composition reading as a continuous panorama around all four sides. The playing field is set within a gold border, alternating near-black lacquer squares with dense orange-and-black micro-mosaic, the sides clad in Khatam work of exceptional fineness. A board as much a collector's object as a playing surface.
