A chess and backgammon board with a scalloped shaped edge, its border painted in deep cobalt blue with white and gold florals.

Chrysanthemums, peonies and trailing leaves are rendered with full painterly confidence, punctuated at each corner by elaborate medallions in burgundy, pink, coral and forest green. The playing field is set within a gold border and presents an alternating grid of Khatam micro-mosaic squares in two distinct patterns, the shaped edge finished cleanly in paint and lacquer. A board among the most ambitious expressions of the hand-painted lacquer tradition.
