Handwoven Wool Kilim — Saffron Field with Scattered Tribal Symbols

Handcrafted

Woven in a warm, luminous saffron — the colour of sunlight through linen — this flatweave kilim carries its field with the quiet assurance of a piece that knows restraint is its own form of richness. The ground is left deliberately open, allowing the eye to breathe between the scattered tribal symbols that populate it: cross forms, stepped diamonds, geometric tree motifs, and abstract talismanic marks dispersed across the surface in rust, slate, ivory, and olive, each placed with the intuitive freedom of the hand rather than the rigidity of a loom pattern.

A continuous zigzag border in deep tobacco frames the composition on all four sides, its rhythm steady and grounding against the looseness of the field. The lower edge finishes in a generous fringe of vivid yellow wool, knotted at intervals — a joyful detail that underscores the handmade character of the piece.

The saffron ground makes this kilim exceptionally versatile: warm enough to anchor a neutral interior, characterful enough to hold its own against richer palettes. It works equally well beneath a dining table, in an entrance hall, or laid over stone or terracotta flooring.
