Hand-Engraved Copper Vase — Arabesque & Calligraphic Motifs on Darkened Patina

A copper vase of classical amphora proportion, its surface hand-engraved with arabesques, vine tendrils and calligraphic inscriptions.

The patina is deep and uneven in the manner of genuine age, warm copper emerging through a dark oxidised ground as the raised engraved lines catch light against a shadowed recessed background. A narrow foliate scroll band runs beneath the rim, the body given to interlacing arabesque enclosing calligraphic text worked as ornament and meaning at once. A piece of genuine craft heritage that grows more interesting with time and handling.
