Carved Wood & Embossed Metal Throne Armchair — Lion Crown & Paw Feet with Polychrome Upholstery

A throne armchair of extraordinary sculptural ambition, its carved wood frame entirely sheathed in embossed metal worked into an elaborate programme of floral arabesques, acanthus scrolls, and figural motifs. The crown rail is surmounted by two rampant lions flanking a central finial, their forms cast with considerable detail and presence. The armrests terminate in lion heads, their jaws open, while four cabriole legs end in powerful paw feet — the leonine theme carried consistently from crown to floor with the conviction of a royal commission. The seat and back are upholstered in a polychrome diamond cross pattern in ivory, crimson, cobalt, and gold, the textile adding a note of colour to the cool gleam of the metalwork frame.
