A throne armchair with its carved wood frame sheathed entirely in embossed metal worked into floral arabesques and figural motifs.

The crown rail is surmounted by two rampant lions flanking a central finial, the armrests terminating in lion heads and four cabriole legs ending in powerful paw feet — the theme carried from crown to floor with royal conviction. The seat and back are upholstered in a polychrome diamond pattern of ivory, crimson, cobalt and gold. A chair that commands rather than invites, unambiguously in the tradition of ceremonial seating.
