Antique Polychrome Carved Double Door — Calligraphy Medallions & Floral Panels

A rare antique door of exceptional age and character, hand-carved in deep relief across six panels and painted in a rich polychrome palette of forest green, crimson, ivory and black that has mellowed beautifully over centuries of use. Each panel tells its own story — the upper registers bear bold calligraphy medallions framed by acanthus scrollwork, the middle panels centre on multi-petal rosettes set within densely carved floral surrounds, and the lower panels feature open lattice grillwork that allows light and air to pass through.

The twisted column spindle at the centre and the beaded moulding borders speak to a tradition of joinery as refined as the carving itself. This is a piece that carries history in every chisel mark — impossible to replicate, impossible to ignore.
