An antique hand-knotted wool carpet with a single hexagonal medallion in ivory and slate blue set on an open crimson field.

Concentric diamond forms in grey, ivory and amber draw the eye inward to a central point of stillness, the crimson ground left open but for scattered small devices. The dense multicoloured border counters the field's restraint with stylised floral sprays, leaf forms and geometric devices in amber, slate blue, sage green and coral. A carpet of this balance — open field, single medallion, rich border — represents the high point of the tribal weaving tradition.
