Antique Hand-Painted Enamel Double Door — Polychrome Floral, Calligraphy & Peacock Panels
An exceptionally rare antique door entirely hand-painted in fired enamel — a technique in which natural pigments are applied by hand then kiln-fired to fuse the colour permanently into the surface, producing a luminosity and durability that no ordinary paint can achieve. The result is a palette of extraordinary richness: turquoise, saffron, crimson, ivory and gold that has held its brilliance across generations.
Six panels unfold a complete decorative programme — cascading floral vases and arabesque gardens in the upper tier, calligraphy cartouches at the centre, and paired peacocks amid crimson floral grounds at the base. Every border is filled with rosette chains and interlocking geometric bands, leaving no surface unadorned.
A piece of this technique and condition is exceptionally rare on the market. One of the rarest pieces in our entire collection — fired enamel doors of this scale, condition and chromatic complexity are almost impossible to find anywhere in the world today.
