A magnificent antique door hand-carved in deep relief and painted by hand in a bold polychrome palette of gold, crimson, forest green and turquoise against a dark ebonised ground. Six panels carry a hieratic decorative programme — the upper tier bears twin calligraphy medallions with Allah inscriptions surrounded by dense arabesque scrollwork, while the middle and lower tiers present multi-petal rosette wheels set within acanthus and foliate surrounds of exceptional carving depth.

The gilded relief carving catches light from every angle, giving the piece a warmth and movement that flat decoration could never achieve. Beaded moulding borders frame each panel with architectural precision, and the dark ground makes every element of colour and gold leap forward with theatrical intensity.
