Andalusian Lustreware Ceramic Vase — Hand-Painted Arabesque on Ivory & Burnt Sienna Ground
A lustreware ceramic vase with hand-painted arabesque on an ivory and burnt-sienna ground, its surface shifting between copper and auburn.
Lustreware is a technique of extraordinary difficulty, firing metallic oxides onto a tin-glazed ground to produce a copper-sienna sheen no other process can replicate. The form is classical: a globular body on a raised foot, a narrow waist with trefoil handles, and a flared rim in plain ivory glaze. The surface carries fine hand-painted arabesque, centred on a medallion of particular refinement.
Diameter: 20 cm Height: 34 cm
