A chess and backgammon board in wood, hand-inlaid with abalone shell and mother of pearl in a diamond-patterned field with gold borders.

The playing field alternates ivory mother-of-pearl diamonds with near-black resin squares, each set within a gold border of rare formality. Its wide border is dense abalone shell mosaic in teal, green and gold, interlaced with mother-of-pearl flowers in champagne white. Every abalone piece is generously cut, its iridescence shifting between silver, gold and pale rose as light moves across it.
